1. What personal information we collect
When you use our website or request a service, we may collect:
- your name, email address and mobile number
- your property's address, type, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and when you are thinking of selling
- photos of your property and any other information you choose to give us
- which services you request (desktop appraisal, in-person appraisal, Fee Finder) and, if you ask for FixUp2SellUp, which trades you need
- your preferred time for an in-person visit
- basic technical information when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view
Please don't include sensitive information (for example health information) in the free-text box or in photos. If photos show people, number plates or personal documents, please crop them out before uploading.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you complete our online form, email or call us. We may also receive information from the real estate agents or tradespeople we connect you with, for example to confirm an appointment.
3. Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- arrange and provide the appraisals and Fee Finder results you request
- arrange quotes from tradespeople if you request FixUp2SellUp, and administer any work you choose to go ahead with, including payment at settlement
- contact you about your request
- verify requests and prevent spam or misuse of our website
- improve our website and services
- comply with our legal obligations
If you don't provide the information marked as required on our form, we may not be able to provide the service you have asked for.
4. Who we share it with
We only share your information as needed to provide what you asked for:
- Real estate agents. We share your details with up to [3] participating local real estate agents so they can prepare your appraisal or provide their selling fees. These agents handle your information under their own privacy obligations.
- Tradespeople. If you request FixUp2SellUp, we share your name, contact details, property address and relevant photos with the tradespeople needed to quote on the work.
- Service providers. We use trusted providers to run our business, such as website hosting and form processing (Netlify), and email. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
- As required by law. We may disclose information where required or authorised by law.
[If participating agents or tradespeople pay Know Your Price a fee when we refer a request to them, state that here.]
We will not sell or rent your personal information to anyone for their own unrelated marketing.
5. Overseas storage
Our website and form submissions are hosted by Netlify, which stores data on servers that may be located outside Australia, including in the United States. Our email and other service providers may also store data overseas. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information to a standard consistent with the APPs.
6. Marketing
We will only send you marketing (such as market updates) if you have agreed to receive it or it is otherwise permitted by law. Every marketing message will include a simple way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out at any time by contacting us.
7. Cookies and website analytics
Our site uses only the cookies and logs needed to run it securely. [If you add analytics or advertising tools such as Google Analytics or a Meta pixel, describe them here and how visitors can opt out.] Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.
8. Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to submissions is limited to people who need it. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and then securely delete or de-identify it.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will explain why.
10. Making a complaint
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
